My expertise is in the area of user experience and new product development in the consumer space.
I have been working for Verizon Laboratories nearly four years. I am in charge of defining new products and services with a focus on innovation and convergence between interactive television, mobile and computer. I am also responsible for identifying problem areas and generating improvements to existing products and services. I work in the Verizon TV user experience group.
Industry focus: TV user experience, mobile video, music services, personalization, search.
My current work entails:
- User experience research into how consumers interact with Verizon’s products and services
- Evaluation and design of products in the areas of games, music, personalization, maps, and search
- Platforms: online/web and cable/interactive television
- Design strategy for new products, services and features
- Interaction with internal clients
- Relationships with third party providers, vendors
- Overview of technology and entertainment industry trends and consumer demands
- Analysis of the competitive landscape
Prior to Verizon Labs, I worked for eight years in consulting, designing customized web based applications for clients that included Fidelity Investments, Lyxom Communications or Dell Financial Services. Main activities included user needs assessments, interaction design and information architecture; also database design, visual design and prototyping.
Before a career change toward the field of human computer interaction, I worked for four years in financial services as an industry analyst and portfolio manager.
I received a MSc in Human Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University in 2002 and a BSc in Finance from Boston University in 1992.
